Resale shop will hold fundraiser

Sandy's Repeat Performance, a consignment men's and women's clothing resale shop in Historic Savage Mill, is holding a fundraiser this weekend for Success in Style, a nonprofit organization that provides free business attire and fashion advice to disadvantaged women looking to enter or re-enter the work force.

Money raised during the Holiday Magic at the Mill weekend is expected to be matched by Historic Savage Mill. Contributions will be accepted through Dec. 31. The goal is to raise $1,000.

Saundra Barrett, owner of the shop, plans also to write a check for Success in Style at the end of the fundraiser.

`For Women Only' to focus on crafts

A monthly "For Women Only" gathering will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at MTM Design Studio in Laurel. The evening will include demonstrations of holiday crafts that can be made with children and given as gifts.

Each item made during the evening will be raffled, and money raised will be donated to Laurel Advocacy and Referral Services.

PACE -- Savage Senior Center will offer an eight-week PACE (People with Arthritis Can Exercise) class Wednesday and Friday afternoons. The class uses gentle activities, performed in sitting or standing positions, to increase joint flexibility and range of motion and to maintain muscle strength. Holiday magic -- Historic Savage Mill is continuing its Holiday Magic at the Mill today. The event includes the traditional Parade of Trees to benefit 15 local charities and nonprofit organizations; customers will be invited to make donations and vote for their favorite decorated tree. Strolling carolers, silent auctions, a holiday jazz brunch, wine and beer tasting, live music and an antiques appraisal are planned.`Grease' -- Reservoir High School in Fulton will present the final performance of its production of Grease, a musical about romance and fast cars, at 2 p.m. today. Historical society -- The Savage Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Faith and Ministry Center of Savage United Methodist Church, 9032 Baltimore St., Savage. Steve Adler and Jay Winer of Savage Mill will discuss "Savage: Past, Present and Future." The meeting is free and open to the public. Practice English -- The Savage branch library will hold a meeting of its English Conversation Club for speakers for whom English is a second or third language, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 6. The club offers an opportunity to practice speaking and understanding in an informal setting. Registration is required.
