Brian Farrell, Boys' Latin

SPORT FOOTBALL

STATS -- He had a season-high 227 yards on 15 receptions and scored the game-winning touchdown in a 28-27 win at St. Paul's in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference North Division title game on Nov. 4. Farrell raised his statistics on the season to 48 receptions, 979 yards and nine touchdowns. Farrell also has a batted pass, fumble recovery and blocked punt. .

SIDELINES -- Farrell, who has a 3.4 grade point average, will play lacrosse at Maryland, where his father, Michael, starred in the sport. Last season, Farrell was a member of the Lakers' B Conference champion football team, was the center-forward and assists leader on their B Conference runner-up basketball team and was a defender on their A Conference runner-up lacrosse team.

GIRLS

Ashley Ball, Randallstown

SPORT SOCCER

STATS -- As a freshman, Ball had a big impact on the Rams' soccer team this fall. A club veteran who has played soccer since third grade, the striker led the Rams in scoring. Ball has played for the CAA Fire in Catonsville, but is looking for a new club team. She also plans to try out for the Rams' lacrosse team.

SIDELINES -- Ball plans to become a corporate or entertainment lawyer. She would also like to become fluent in Spanish. Currently taking Spanish 4, Ball became interested in the language because her next door neighbor and best friend's family speaks Spanish. Her friend's parents are from Panama and the Dominican Republic, so Ball gets plenty of practice. She also said her language skills could prove valuable in her career.
