Ireland in the winter

November 13, 2005|By CHICAGO TRIBUNE

For travelers drawn to the winter mists of Ireland, a $299 package offers five nights' B&B accommodations, daily breakfast, six days' car rental, airport transfers in Shannon or Dublin and a guided tour of the Waterford Crystal Factory. The first night is prebooked, but the remaining four are open, allowing visitors to choose from 450 B&Bs.

An additional $40 adds private bathrooms to all accommodations; an extra $50 upgrades the standard rental car to one with automatic transmission. Offered by New York-based Sceptre Tours, the "Emerald Package Special" is valid through March, except for certain blackout dates. Airfare to Ireland is additional.
