For much of the first half of its Class 3A East region semifinal against Seneca Valley, River Hill dominated but failed to capitalize on many scoring opportunities.

But late in the half last night, Hawks senior midfielder Tyler Meade scored from just inside the Seneca Valley goal box. The Hawks then added three more goals in the next 24 minutes to cruise to a 4-0 victory over the Screaming Eagles (8-5-1), advancing to a fourth straight state final.

For River Hill (14-1-1), composure in the box and the ability to put shots on goal were the keys to the game, Hawks coach Bill Stara said.

River Hill will now face Towson in the final next week.

Towson 3, Westlake 0 -- Coming into the other 3A semifinal, Towson's Joey Chapline had scored three goals all season. He scored three last night, in leading Towson (10-4-1) over Westlake (11-6-1).
