Flu-shot clinics are now open to everyone

November 13, 2005

The Howard County Health Department has lifted the "high priority" designation for flu-shot clinics this season. Anyone seeking a flu vaccination is now welcome to attend a clinic.

The cost of the vaccination is $20, which will be covered by Medicare Part B. Payment on a sliding scale is available.

FluMist will be administered by appointment only at the county's three Health Centers: Columbia Health Center (410-313-7500); Ellicott City Health Center (410-313-2333); or Southeastern Health Center (410-880-5888). The cost for FluMist is $20. Those ages 5 to 49 are eligible to receive live vaccine.

An adult-only flu clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Glenwood library, 2350 Route 97, Cooksville.

Family clinics are planned from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Lisbon Fire Hall, 1330 Woodbine Road (Route 94), Lisbon, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Southeastern Health Center, 9525 Durness Lane, North Laurel.

Family clinics also will be held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at First Presbyterian Church of Howard County, 9325 Presbyterian Circle, Columbia; and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 2875 Bethany Lane Ellicott City.
