Ravens promote Norton, waive Jones

Cornerback called up from practice squad

Veteran TE spent three-plus seasons with franchise

The Ravens today signed cornerback Zach Norton to the active roster from the practice squad.

Tight end Terry Jones, in his fourth season with the Ravens, was released to make room for Norton.

Jones had 50 catches for 417 yards and five touchdowns in his first three seasons with Baltimore, but he was rarely used this season. The former fifth-round draft had fallen behind Todd Heap, Daniel Wilcox and Darnell Dinkins in the Ravens' tight end rotation and was inactive for most games.

Norton is in his second season after being signed as a rookie free agent out of Cincinnati. He missed all of last season with a shoulder injury.
