Sev. Park wins, 12-7

No. 8 Severna Park completed an undefeated season in Anne Arundel County league football with a 12-7 win over visiting Broadneck last night.

The Falcons (9-1, 9-0) got a 1-yard touchdown run from senior quarterback Greg Zingler, who later threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Chris Hunt. The Falcons' defense, led by defensive lineman Lewis Spadaro and linebackers Mark Otto and Dave Horn, limited Broadneck to 35 total yards on offense.

The Bruins (5-5, 5-5) were given new life yesterday when they received a forfeit from Glen Burnie (0-10) that put them back into the Class 4A East regional playoff hunt. The Gophers had defeated the Bruins, 28-26, on Oct. 28, but had to forfeit their only win of the season due to a residency violation.

No. 5 Patterson 22, Edmondson 12 -- Ahmad Moulden had 13 carries for 101 yards and two touchdowns to lead the visiting Clippers (9-1). Kevin Gee (nine tackles) and Tim Rich (five tackles, one interception) paced the Patterson defense. Rich had a 55-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter. The Red Storm fell to 5-5.

No. 6 Dunbar 44, Forest Park 7 -- Quinton Garrus had 23 carries for 152 yards and three touchdowns to power the visiting Poets (8-2) past the Foresters (5-5).

Atholton 35, Wilde Lake 14 -- The visiting Raiders (7-3) defeated the Wildecats (5-5) to advance to the state playoffs for the second time in the program's history. Matt Winger had 177 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries for Atholton, which is in Class 2A South.

Edgewood 46, North Harford 7 -- Jordan Hancock threw for three touchdowns and ran for one to lead the visiting Rams (7-3, 6-0) past the Hawks (8-2, 5-1) to clinch the Chesapeake Division title of the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference.

Catonsville 17, Woodlawn 14 -- Jaren Maybin rushed for 269 yards and two touchdowns on 50 carries for the host Comets, who won in overtime on Dan Vanik's 29-yard field goal.

Joppatowne 14, C. Milton Wright 12 -- The visiting Mariners (8-2) thwarted an upset bid by the Mustangs (8-2) when George Denton's run for the game-tying two-point conversion came up a yard short.

Carver 20, Digital Harbor 12 -- Christian Tyler had three sacks and returned a blocked punt for a touchdown as the Bears (9-1) held off the host Rams.

Harford Tech 37, Havre de Grace 33 -- Theron Taylor threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Robert Becoat with 2:15 remaining to lift the visiting Cobras (4-8).
