MR. WILLIAM ROLAND STEHLE, 89, of Thurmont, died Thursday, November 10. Mr. Stehle served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was employed in the U.S. Naval Radio Station in Annapolis then spent 12 years living with and organizing a library for the Marian Fathers of Brookeville, MD. He was a lifetime member of the knights of Columbus. Surviving are John and Kathryn Dowling and family of Thurmont, his caregivers with whom he resided; a brother: Joseph M. "Percy" Stehle of Annapolis; a nephew: Kirk Stehle of Annapolis; a daughter: Margaret Weaver; and grandchildren: Skip, David and Sharon Weaver. Mr. Stehle is at the Roberty E. Dailey & Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 615 East Main Street, Thurmont. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. A Christian Wake Service will be held 7:30 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 A.M. Monday, November 14 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 103 North Church Street, Thurmont. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Mr. Stehle to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Maintenance Fund, 16150 St. Anthony Road, Emmitsburg, MD 21727.
