MABEL MARGARET SHAFFER, age 93, of Manchester, MD, died Thursday afternoon, November 10, 2005, at the Hanover Gen. Hospital. Born May 8, 1912 in Manchester, MD, she was the daughter of the late Walter W. and Norma E. Wentz. She was the wife of 72 years to Roland N. Shaffer. She was a housewife and life long resident of Manchester, MD. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester and was active in the ELCW and sang on the choir. She was a graduate of Peabody Institute and attended Western Maryland College. She sang in choral groups in both Carroll and Baltimore Countys. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, antiques, traveling and reading. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Hugh N. and daughter-in-law Judy J. Shaffer of Manchester, MD, grandsons: Dr. Steven N. Shaffer and his wife Sherri of Manchester, MD, and Michael B. Shaffer and his wife Aileen of North Salem, New York, granddaughters: Stacey L. Shaffer of Manchester, MD and Kristy L. Shaffer of Salisbury. Great-grandchildren: Katie, Christopher, Sarah, Jonathan and Nathaniel of Manchester, MD, and Nicole and Michael of North Salem, New York. She was predeceased by sister: Isabel Wentz and sons Donald and Barry Shaffer. Funeral services will be held at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., 3296 Charmil Dr., Manchester, MD on Monday at 10 A.M. Interment will be in the New Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M.
