Yoga Weight-Loss Workout for Dummies (Anchor Bay Entertainment, $14.95)

Yoga for Dummies sounds like an oxymoron. But this new DVD does a fairly good job of acquainting exercisers with the basics of yoga poses.

The problem comes when it promises to help you lose weight with a 23-minute standing workout that it calls "heat-building." Most of these exercises are good for stretching and flexibility, but they fall short of generating enough sweat to drop a few pounds.

The video's next 15-minute mat workout is better: Instructor Chris Freytag has participants stretching in classic poses to increase strength and flexibility. The segment works on all parts of the body and includes challenge poses, if you're looking for a more advanced workout.

Bottom Line: This video is a good choice if you've never done yoga, but don't count on it to burn many calories.
