Body found Sunday identified

Baltimore County police released yesterday the name of the woman whose body was discovered Sunday morning by children playing in a neighbor's backyard. Tiona Katrice Smith, 23, of the 3900 block of Mountwood Road in Southwest Baltimore was found in the 6800 block of Fox Meadow Road in the Woodmoor area by children who told their parents they had found a woman sleeping nearby, said Sgt. Vickie Warehime, a police spokeswoman. The woman had suffered trauma to the head and upper body, police said. Homicide detectives were awaiting autopsy results. Robbery suspect arrested

Baltimore County police arrested yesterday a 26-year-old man who they said is a suspect in at least seven armed robberies in Baltimore County and Baltimore City. Jerome Owens of no fixed address was arrested about 6:40 a.m. in an alley off Boston Street in the O'Donnell Heights area of Baltimore, police said. Police chased Owens on foot into the city after an officer on patrol spotted the robbery suspect in Dundalk. Owens was charged with armed robbery and use of a handgun in a violent crime in an Oct. 24 robbery at the High's Store in the 2000 block of Merritt Blvd. in Dundalk, police said.
