TODAY

Transportation plans -- Maryland Transportation Department officials will discuss current and planned Baltimore City projects at a public meeting at 10 a.m. in the War Memorial Building's Paul C. Wolman Assembly Hall, 101 N. Gay St. The officials will outline the department's draft six-year capital program for the city.

Energy assistance -- A town hall meeting on assistance programs for people facing high energy costs will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Forest Park Senior Center, 4801 Liberty Heights Ave. The meeting will be hosted by Rep. Elijah E. Cummings.

TOMORROW

Crofton forum -- The Greater Crofton Council will hold its annual community forum at 7 p.m. at the Village of Waugh Chapel Community Center. Among the topics to be discussed is the proposed Maryland Horse Park on a former dairy farm owned by the Naval Academy. WEDNESDAY

Global warming forum -- The Anne Arundel Community College Biology and Environmental Science Club will present a forum, "Global Warming: Science and Solutions," at 3:30 p.m. in Room 110 of the Dragun Building on the Arnold campus. 410-777-2265.

Security and civil liberties -- The League of Women Voters of Howard County and Howard County Public Library will sponsor a panel discussion on balancing homeland security and civil liberties from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the George Howard Building, 3430 Court House Drive, Ellicott City. 410-730-0142.

FRIDAY

Greek Village Festival -- The 34th annual Greek Village Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 24 W. Preston St., which is celebrating its centennial. There will be Greek food, live music and dancing and cathedral tours. Veterans Day concert -- The U.S. Naval Academy Band will present a free Veterans Day concert at 8 p.m. at Todd Performing Arts Center in Wye Mills. 410-293-0263.

Saturday with Sherlock -- The Enoch Pratt Free Library will hold its 26th annual Saturday with Sherlock Holmes from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the library's Edgar Allan Poe Room, 400 Cathedral St. Talks will include discussions of British literature and nobility encountered in the Holmes stories.
