Katharine Elizabeth "Kitty" Sheldon, 47, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, passed away peacefully at her home on November 3, 2005, following a long struggle against Leiomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. She was born September 27, 1958 in Baltimore, Maryland and moved to Ponte Vedra Beach in 1992 from Towson, MD. Kitty led the contract travel team that arranged travel for Black and Decker Worldwide Operations, was a CSX travel consultant and an American Express Platinum travel consultant. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club. She volunteered for the Delicious Destinations committee and assisted in the design of the soon to be constructed St. Vincent's Memorial Garden, a volunteer for the American Cancer Society Cowford Ball, modeled in the 2004 Cure by Design fashion show and was a member of the Ponte Vedra Cultural Center. Kitty was also a Denise Carol talent and appeared in industry videos and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonel John Streett Chapter in Baltimore, MD and the D.A.R. of Ponte Vedra. Kitty valued her friends, her husband's love, working out in the gym, travel, volunteering for worthy causes, sunshine and waking up every morning. She enjoyed fashion, art, yoga and travel. Following her diagnosis in June of 2003, Kitty focused on Life, Living and making the best of every day, which she considered a gift. Family members include her loving husband of 13 years, Benjamin James "Ben" Sheldon, Jr.; parents, William Minifie and Elizabeth Day Levy of Towson, MD; brother, William Kirkwood (Laura Merrill) Levy of Lyons, CO and nephew, Wyatt Kirkwood Levy of Lyons, CO. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, the Honorable and Mrs. Stewart Day of Bel Air, MD, Chief Judge of the 3rd Judicial Circuit of the State of Maryland and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Minifie Levy of Cockeysville, MD. Her mother's family traces its roots back to the first ships, the Ark and the Dove in 1634, which settled Maryland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 12th in the Christ Episcopal Church of Ponte Vedra Beach with the Rt. Reverend Edward Chalfant and the Reverend Deacon Jo Hoskins, officiating. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
