Food drive to be held tomorrow

Shoppers Food & Pharmacy in 140 Village Shopping Center, Westminster, will hold a food drive to combat child hunger from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. tomorrow.

The store is hoping to collect 5,000 pounds of food to serve to needy children during the holiday season.

Westminster High to present comedy

Westminster High School Theatre will present the 1950s comedy, The Mouse That Roared, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the school auditorium, 1225 Washington Road.

Breakfast planned for Veterans Day

Winters Mill High School will hold its annual Veterans Day breakfast and ceremony Friday.

The breakfast will begin at 8 a.m., with an assembly at 9:15 a.m.

Military personnel and veterans wanting to attend are asked to call the school with the number of people and branch of service.

Armacost fundraiser to be held Saturday

The Jacob Armacost Foundation will hold a pig roast and silent auction fundraiser from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the activities building at the Arcadia fire hall, Arcadia Avenue, Upperco.

Proceeds go to pay for therapies and equipment not covered by insurance for 9-year-old Jacob Armacost, who was left severely brain damaged after almost drowning when he was 16 months old.

North Carroll drama club to do comedy

The North Carroll High School Drama Club will present the Woody Allen comedy, Don't Drink the Water, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the school auditorium, 1400 Panther Drive, Hampstead.

The play involves the Hollander family, whose members are accused of being spies. Their escape includes a bumbling ambassador's son, a tricky priest, a crazy chef and the Sultan of Bashir.

Spring Garden hosts regional parent fair

Spring Garden Elementary School will host a regional parent fair from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday.

The keynote speaker will be Marina Harrison from the state Department of Education. She will discuss parents as the first teachers of character education.

Wesley United to hold supper Saturday

Wesley United Methodist Church will hold a fried oyster and baked ham supper from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the church hall at 3239 Carrollton Road, Hampstead.

The menu will include fried oysters, baked ham, green beans, corn, coleslaw, potato salad, roll, dessert and beverages.

The cost is $12 for age 12 and older, $6 for ages 5 to 11, and free for those younger than 5. Carryouts are $12.50.

New Windsor firehouse to hold bingo

The New Windsor Fire Department will hold a basket bingo Friday in the fire hall, 101 High St.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for food sales and games start at 7 p.m. There will be junior and senior jackpots, three raffles and a 50/50 raffle. Extra cards are $5 per pack.

St. Paul's to hold holiday craft fair

The St. Paul's United Methodist Church women will hold a holiday craft fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church hall, 200 Main St., New Windsor.

Freedom Fitness will begin its second fall session of classes tomorrow in Carrolltown Center.

Driving seminar offered for seniors

The South Carroll Senior Activities Center will hold a "Roadwise Review" from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at 5745 Bartholow Road, Eldersburg.

The review is a free chance for seniors to check their driving abilities by helping them identify health and fitness issues that affect their driving; take steps to reduce their risk behind the wheel; talk with their doctor about driver fitness; and monitor their driving health.
