Florida first baseman Carlos Delgado, whom the Orioles have targeted before, could be available, though he'd be a long shot because of his back-loaded contract. Delgado is scheduled to earn $13.5 million next season. The Orioles would be unlikely to acquire Delgado without the Marlins' absorbing some of his salary.
Other names that could be discussed include New York Mets outfielder Mike Cameron, Marlins outfielder Juan Pierre, Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Lyle Overbay and Tampa Bay Devil Rays outfielder/first baseman Aubrey Huff.

Potential Orioles targets
Players whom the Orioles might pursue through free agency or trade:
Name Pos. Age 2005
Paul Byrd SP 34 12-11, 3.74 ERA for Angels
O's would like to reunite Byrd with Leo Mazzone, adding a veteran to their staff.
Carlos Delgado 1B 33 .301, 33 HRs, 115 RBIs for Marlins
Possibly available in trade, but a long shot because of age and immense contract.
Ramon Hernandez C 29 .290, 12 HRs, 58 RBIs for Padres
Likely to be one of O's top targets; he's younger and more athletic than Bengie Molina.
Aubrey Huff OF/1B 28 .261, 22 HRs, 92 RBIs for Devil Rays
Search for big bat could lead to familiar target in Huff, who is often in trade rumors.
Mike Cameron OF 32 .273, 12 HRs, 39 RBIs for Mets
Would add pop and defense to an O's outfield in desperate need of both.
Kevin Millwood SP 30 9-11, 2.86 ERA for Indians
AL ERA champ flourished under Mazzone in Atlanta, but Indians are likely to make big offer.
Matt Morris SP 31 14-10, 4.11 ERA for Cardinals
O's need a veteran to anchor staff, but Morris' ERA skyrocketed past two seasons.
Jarrod Washburn SP 31 8-8, 3.20 ERA for Angels
A solid performer but has had injury problems that could be deterrent.
Jeff Weaver SP 29 14-11, 4.22 ERA for Dodgers
O's reportedly contacted Dodgers about Weaver before trade deadline.
Ugueth Urbina RP 31 5-6, 3.62 ERA, 10 saves for Tigers/Phillies
If B.J. Ryan exits, Urbina or Tom Gordon could be stopgap closer until Chris Ray is ready.
