DR. CHRISTOPHER G. RAFFERTY passed on All Saints Day, November 1, 2005. Dr. Rafferty was born October 28, 1951, in Washington, D.C. to John Rafferty, Winter Park, FL and the late Dorothy M. Rafferty (nee Melling). Chris graduated from Univ. of MD Dental School and later completed his specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at University of Texas Parkland Memorial Hospital. He has practiced in Orlando since 1983 and was founder of Orlando Oral and Facial Surgery which serves Central Florida in four locations. He was co-founder and director of the Central Florida Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Team, which treats children with facial deformities. He is survived by his wife Miriam (nee D'Aurora), and three daughters, Kathleen, Clare, and Christine. His siblings include deceased brothers John, Robert, Daniel, and Brian Rafferty. His surviving siblings are Patrick Rafferty, Silver Spring, MD, Mary Wiedel, Baltimore, MD and Joanne Fieschko, New Bern, NC. He has numerous nephews and nieces and well as his stepmother Therese A. (Parker) Rafferty and her six children. Visitors will be received Thursday from6 to 8 PM followed by a wake service at Catholic Cathedral of St. James, 215 North Orange Ave., Orlando 32801. A private family service is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to JMJ Life Center, 1400 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando 32804 or to Central Florida Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Team c/o Orlando Oral and Facial Surgery, 2045 Lee Rd., Winter Park, 32789.
