5 Seasons

Don't judge the 5 Seasons from its strip mall setting. Tucked into the back corner of a plaza on Guilford Avenue, the restaurant/club offers Ethiopian cuisine by day and samples of the city's underground culture by night.

Where -- 830 Guilford Ave., 410-625-9787

Web site -- the5seasons.com.

Notable -- During shows, plunk down on the long, black bench along the club's right wall. Claim one of the club's pillows to keep your back from getting stiff. A handful of TVs hang from the ceiling, and a large flat screen is attached to the wall behind one of the two porcelain, tile-topped bars.

Vibe -- Urban chic. The purple light fixtures lend a cooler tint to the place and the mood.

What to wear -- Stylish street attire. Thrift-store jeans are OK, but designer jeans are better. Same goes for shirts and shoes. Fix up, look sharp.

Crowd -- All walks of life, but mostly young people hungry for food, entertainment or both.

Music -- Coming events include monthly belly-dance night the first Sunday of every month and StyleWarz MC competition the last Thursday of every month.
