Several Maryland football players were allegedly involved in an altercation at a College Park bar early yesterday morning, university officials confirmed yesterday.

A bar fight occurred at the Cornerstone Grill and Loft in the 7300 block of Baltimore Ave., just after 1 a.m., according to Prince George's County police. Police said no arrests have been made, so no names were released.

About 100 people were outside, according to a report filed by the University Police Department, which initially handled the case. Only one injury was reported, as the Prince George's County Fire Department took an adult male at 1:30 a.m. to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that resulted from an assault.

"The athletics department has been made aware of the allegation and is soliciting information regarding the incident through the campus police and Prince George's County police," the statement read. "Once the situation is fully reviewed, the athletics department in coordination with the campus will determine if the university's student-athlete code of conduct has been violated and if disciplinary action is appropriate."

The investigative section of the county police department received the case yesterday afternoon.
