Today

Nature Walk -- Harford Community College will hold a 5K Cross Country Eco-Run and Guided Family Nature Walk at 8 a.m. On-site registration begins at 7 a.m. in front of the Susquehanna Center. Participants should report to the gym at 7:30 a.m. The cost is $15 for the general public; $10 for HCC students and employees; and free for children ages 12 and younger with a registered adult. Entry fee includes refreshments, a T-shirt and prizes. Proceeds from the event will fund sustainability activities and the purchase of a tree in honor of the college's graduating Class of 2006. 410-836-4402.

Poetry reading -- The Harford Poetry and Literary Society will meet at 1 p.m. at Rockfield Manor, 501 Churchville Road, Bel Air. There will be readings by poets Susan Lesser, Betty Grabarek and Susan Buttimer. 410-692-5068.

Antiques appraisal -- Local experts in antiques and decorative arts will offer estimates from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Main and Broadway, Bel Air. The cost is $10 for the first item and $5 for each additional item. Inflatable Theater -- Harford Community College presents Fred Garbo's Inflatable Theater Company at 7 p.m. at the Amoss Center. Garbo's world of blow-up shapes features giant cubes, cylinders and colorful silk wheels floating, tumbling, hovering and gliding across the stage. Saturday

Library Gala -- Harford County Public Library will hold its first gala, "Harford Treasures: An Evening in the Stacks," from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Abingdon branch. Hors d'oeuvres, wine and cocktails will be served, and harpist Elizabeth Ciavolino and the Defractions Jazz Band will provide entertainment. Live and silent auctions will be held. Welsh Choir Gala -- The Bel Air Cultural Arts Commission presents the Rehoboth Welsh Choir Anniversary Gala at 7 p.m. at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church on North Main Street in Bel Air. The choir sings music of faith and culture of Wales, employing primarily four-part harmony. The Delta, Pa., group will present classical Welsh music as well as contemporary American music. Future

Horse Ride -- The fourth annual Deer Creek Valley Trail Ride will be held Nov. 6 at the Crouse Equestrian Center near Darlington. Riders will have access to 15 farms throughout the scenic valley, and events for nonriders will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Crouse Farm. An art show and sale will take place in the indoor riding arena, and a cookout lunch has been scheduled. Tickets are $30 for nonriders, $50 for trail-riders and $65 for trail ride and cookout. Music -- Cecil Community College's Elkton Station Gallery will present "Music at Noon" Nov. 8 across the lobby from the gallery. Guests are encouraged to bring lunch.
