What now? -- Dust off your skates and get a head start on winter. The indoor rink opens today for the season, which continues through April. General admission is $4, and skate rental is $2. Season passes are $30. The Ravens' season might be on thin ice, but the rink is expected to be frozen solid.

What now? -- The American Heart Association sponsors a noncompetitive 5K in memory of former Orioles and Colts broadcaster Chuck Thompson. Healthy snacks will be provided, and children can enjoy the kids' corner. Registration is required on the Web. What now? -- Preliminary heats and consolation rounds begin tomorrow, with four feature races scheduled Sunday, including late models and sprint cars. What now? -- Live racing begins an hour earlier than usual, but the real action will be on the big screens - the Breeders' Cup simulcast from Belmont Park in New York begins at noon. General admission is $3, but you'll have to bring more than that if you're going to bet all day. With 11 live races and 10 premier races from Belmont, there are plenty of chances to hit a big trifecta to bolster your holiday shopping fund.

What now? -- The third-ranked Terps, who have won eight in a row, take on the fifth-ranked Hoosiers. If you want to arrive early, the Maryland women's soccer team takes on Boston College at 5 p.m. Tickets for the men's game are $6 for adults and $3 for youth under 17. They can be purchased at 800-IM-A-TERP before 5 p.m. today. Tickets will be available at the field, but with both the Terps and Navy football teams on the road, this is easily the hottest college ticket in the state this week.
