Faculty recitals -- Howard Community College will present a faculty jazz concert, led by clarinetist and saxophonist Kyle Coughlin (above), with guest artist Alex Norris on trumpet, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the college's Smith Theatre, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia. Norris, who grew up in Columbia, graduated from Hammond High School and studied at the Peabody Conservatory. He went on to earn a master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music and to perform with the Mingus Big Band, Joshua Redman and other distinguished players. Coughlin has led the college's faculty and student jazz ensembles since 1998. Tickets, available at the door, are $15; $10 for senior citizens; and $5 for students. Also in the series are a recital by cellist Benjamin Myers, accompanied by Hsiu-Hui Wang, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, and a violin recital by Mark Singer on Nov. 13. 410-772-4914.
