Mayor Martin O'Malley's administration followed through on a promise yesterday to provide nearly $2 million in new funding to the state's attorney's office to pay for programs that were set to expire at the end of the year.

Without discussion, the Board of Estimates approved a $1.96 million supplemental appropriation for State's Attorney Patricia C. Jessamy. The money was drawn from a surplus in the city's general fund.

The two officials, who have had a strained relationship, struck a deal in June to fund the continuation of initiatives related to juvenile crime, domestic violence and gun prosecutions.

The spending must be approved by the City Council.
