BOYS

SPORT FOOTBALL

Jordan Hancock, Edgewood

STATS -- Hancock is a versatile quarterback who threw for two touchdowns in the 47-20 rout of Bel Air two weeks ago. The week before that, he guided the offense in a rain storm as the Rams scored a 10-0 win over Fallston. He threw for 430 yards and rushed for 420 through the team's first six games. On defense, he had 27 tackles and three interceptions and continually makes big plays.

SIDELINES -- The senior is the holder on the field-goal team, returns punts and serves as captain. Hancock also plays point guard for the basketball team and was its captain, too. Last year, he performed in a play in his drama class for elementary school students. Coach Fred Myers calls him "the heart, soul and brains of our football team." Hancock has been a big reason the Rams bounced back from an 0-3 start.

GIRLS

Kathleen Tress, Fallston

SPORT FIELD HOCKEY

STATS -- Tress, a junior, has six goals and five assists for Fallston this season. She leads the team in goals scored and is second in total points. This is her second season as a varsity starter, and she also led the team in scoring last year. She played on the junior varsity team as a freshman, but came up to the varsity for the playoffs and played as Fallston made it to the state semifinals.

SIDELINES -- Tress has made it back from a serious shoulder injury suffered during a lacrosse scrimmage last spring. She missed the entire lacrosse season, underwent surgery and couldn't do much until midsummer. Tress also is a member of the swim team during the winter. She is a leader on the field hockey team, which starts the regional playoffs tomorrow with a home game against Franklin.
