Ionic technology, which uses an electrical charge to dissipate odors and make air cleaner, has become all the rage in home air purifiers. Now the technology is going to the dogs in the form of the battery-operated Waterless Bath Pet Brush, designed to neutralize nasty smells and electrostatically break down and "lift out" dirt particles and dander.

Sturdy bristles do a pretty good job of untangling fur - though my dog didn't like the low vibration of the brush. She did smell fresher, although the brush, which runs on one 9-volt battery (not included), is no match for serious stinks.

Waterless Bath Pet Brush is $36.95 from Safe Home Products: 877-358-0900;
