Celebrate fall and spooky Halloween at the Great Pumpkin Carve event, taking place Thursday through Saturday at the Chadds Ford Historical Society in Chadds Ford, Pa.

From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, area artists will carve, sculpt, saw and chisel creative designs into 70 giant pumpkins, each weighing between 150 and 400 pounds. Designs will range from the creepy to the humorous, with works inspired by Halloween, pop culture and current events. A panel of judges will determine the best creations, and the winning pumpkins will be announced at 8:30 p.m.

From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, all carved pumpkins will be candle-lit - with winners identified - and displayed for visitors. All three evenings, visitors can enjoy food, hay rides, live music by Kenny Thompson and Friends and more.

The Chadds Ford Historical Society is at 1736 Creek Road. Admission is $3; free for ages 6 and under. Details: 610-388-7376; chaddsfordhistory.org.
