1970: NEW CAMPUS FOR HCC

Even as last-minute construction work continued, Howard Community College students took their places on Oct. 12, 1970, for the delayed opening of the two-year college's new campus. About 250 full-time students showed up "amid the tumult and whirring sounds of scores of construction workers in and out of the college's new and only classroom facility," according to an article in The Sun. Construction problems and a delay in receiving classroom equipment had led to a two-week postponement of day classes.
