Anne Arundel County police were looking yesterday for a female SUV driver who they say struck a 10-year-old boy on a bicycle Wednesday night, got out to check on him in the roadway and then drove away.

Patrick Anthony Montgomery, 10, of Pasadena was riding his bike with friends on Knollwood Road in Severna Park when he was hit by the sport utility vehicle at an intersection about 6:40 p.m., police said. The boy's mother, Kimberly A. Montgomery, flew with her son to Johns Hopkins Children's Center. He was released yesterday morning.

Although police said the driver stopped to help the boy, his mother said the boy's friends were the ones who moved him to the side of the road. They then called for help.

Police said the driver is white, between 30 and 40 years old, and has brown curly hair. Police are asking anyone with information to call 410-222-6145.
