A man ran three blocks to get help at a West Baltimore fire station late Monday after being shot, and died about two hours later at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, city police said.

The victim, Jerrod Bernard Byers, 22, of the 1900 block of N. Longwood St., had been shot multiple times about 10 p.m. in the 1800 block of N. Rosedale St., and ran about three blocks to the 3100 block of W. North Ave. and used his fist to break a front window of the Walbrook fire station, yelling for help, police said.

Firefighters were treating Byers for the lacerated hand when they realized he had been shot and called police. He was taken by ambulance to Shock Trauma, and died there shortly before midnight.
