The Cardinals have lost two close games, to St. John's (D.C.) and league rival McDonogh. The Greyhounds have three come-from-behind wins, two in overtime.

The game features the participants of the past three Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference title games. An earlier meeting, on Sept. 14, ended in a scoreless tie. McDonogh beat Calvert Hall in last year's league championship game.

This is a nonconference game between two county teams who've started well. John Carroll has won nine in a row after starting 1-3, and Bel Air is off to a 7-2-1 start. The Bobcats are battling Fallston for first place in the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference Chesapeake Division.
