On Saturday, October 8, 2005, MICHAEL KEVIN SAFFRAN, 45 of the 2300 block of Meiggs Road, died in the line of duty. He is a native of Baltimore, Maryland and has been a resident of Hampton Roads since 1991. He is the son of the late Charles Norbert Saffran and Anita I. Saffran. He graduated from Edmondsen High School. He was a Police Officer with the City of Chesapeake Police Department and retired from the United States Navy after 20 years service to his country. He was a Roman Catholic. Survivors include his wife, Sandy Wilson Saffran and his stepchildren; Ronalda Dawn and Trevor Lee Culwell all of Chesapeake. His mother of Baltimore, his sisters; Jo Ann Ramsay and her husband Steven of Pasadena, Maryland and Julia Ann Saffran of Baltimore, his brother Matthew Charles Saffran and his wife Julia of Belaire, Maryland and three nieces and one nephew. A funeral service will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Chesapeake, VA., Thursday, October 13, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. The Reverend Msgr. Michael Mc Carron will officiate. Entombment will be in Garden of Faith Memorial Gardens, Baltimore, Md. Friday at 11:30 A.M. The family will receive friends in the Cvach Rosedale Funeral Home 10 to 11 A.M.
