Columbus Day Holiday County offices, courts, libraries and the animal shelter will be closed. The landfill will be open, and there will be trash and recycling service as usual. Parking meters will be enforced. Police, fire and 911 services are always open. For non-emergencies, call 410-313-2200 .


Compensation Review Commission will meet at 6 p.m. in the Vernon Gray Conference Room of the George Howard Building, 2320 Court House Drive, Ellicott City. A presentation by the County Council administrator, Sheila Tolliver, is scheduled for 6 p.m.; interviews with County Council members Charles Feaga, Christopher Merdon and Ken Ulman at 6:30 p.m.; and a work session at 7 p.m. The County Council appoints a Compensation Review Commission every four years, as required by the Howard County Charter. The commission recommends compensation and allowances to be paid to members of the County Council and the county executive in the ensuing term.

Alcoholic Beverage Hearing Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Banneker Room, George Howard Building, 3430 Court House Drive, Ellicott City.

Women's Commission will meet at 7 p.m. in the second floor conference room of the Gateway Building, 6751 Columbia Gateway Drive, Columbia.

Agricultural Preservation Advisory Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Howard County Fairgrounds office in West Friendship.

Public Works Board meeting has been canceled.


Planning Board meeting has been canceled.
