Spa plans events for cancer awareness

Freestyle Hair and Body Spa in TownMall of Westminster is sponsoring two events in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The events will benefit the Stacey Davis Fund to provide breast cancer patients with needed financial resources. Davis died of breast cancer in 2002 at age 36, leaving a husband and three young sons.

Freestyle will hold a "Spa-a-thon" from noon to 5 p.m. today to raise awareness about its Hairball Gala. During this event, all fees for services will be donated by the staff to the Stacey Davis fund. Appointments may be scheduled by calling 410-848-3358.

The first Hairball Gala (black tie optional) will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight Oct. 28 at Martin's Westminster. The evening will include dinner, dancing and a silent auction. Tickets are $75.

Luncheon Oct. 16 to aid Breast Center

Carroll Hospital Center will hold its annual Hope and Healing Luncheon from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 16 at Wakefield Valley Golf & Conference Center in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to benefit the Breast Center.

The program will feature breast cancer survivor Ruth Smith of Westminster, who will share her personal story, and three women of the Guts, Grace and Gusto Group, who will present "Fancy Footwork for Life -Dancing Your Way Through Life with Guts, Grace and Gusto."

The event includes a silent auction, Longaberger "Horizon of Hope" baskets and other products for sale.

The cost is $35 and includes lunch, speakers and door prizes.
