Didn't get enough amusement park thrills this past summer? Despite the cooler weather, area amusement parks remain open and offer some of the fall's best attractions. Instead of the heat and long lines of high season, enjoy haunted houses, spooky mazes and delicious autumn treats.

Here's a rundown on what some area parks are offering this fall:

Six Flags America

Fright Fest 2005 runs through Oct. 30 and features a slew of spooky attractions like the Midnight Express Haunted Train, Hall Manor House of Horrors and a Trick-or-Treat Trail. Other activities include the Nintendo Mobile Tour (today), Youth Soccer Day (Oct. 16), Youth Football Day (Oct. 23) and Fall DanceExpo (Oct. 23).

OPEN: Fridays 5 p.m.-10 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays noon-10 p.m.

through Oct. 30

ADMISSION -- $39.99 per person; $28.99 for seniors and those 54

HERSHEYPARK

The park's October attraction, Hersheypark in the Dark, will take place Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays Oct. 14-30. Ride Halloween-themed rides and enjoy spooky storytime and fall-themed food.

OPEN -- Fridays 5 p.m.-11 p.m., Saturdays 2 p.m.-11 p.m., Sundays 2 p.m.-10 p.m. Oct. 14-30

ADMISSION -- Free. Rides and attractions are individually priced. Ride-All-Night wristbands are available.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg

Celebrate Halloween with Busch Gardens' "Howl-O-Scream," which begins a week from Sunday. This spooky time of year is a perfect time to visit R.L. Stine's Haunted Lighthouse, a 4-D movie event. Sensory effects accompany the sounds and sights of the experience. A guide to each "Howl-O-Scream" attraction lets visitors gauge whether they want to participate.

OPEN -- Fridays and Sundays 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m.-11 p.m., Oct. 16-30

ADMISSION -- $49.95 per person; $42.95 for ages 3-6; 2 and under admitted free.

PARAMOUNT'S KINGS DOMINION

Kings Dominion offers a variety of Halloween fun for all ages. Nick-Or-Treat features kids' favorite Nickelodeon characters and other less spooky events, while fearfest is geared toward the older audience, with haunted houses and motion simulator rides that provide real scares.

OPEN -- Saturdays 10:30 a.m.-11 p.m., Sundays 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. through Oct. 30

ADMISSION -- $47.99 per person; $39.99 for seniors (ages 55-plus); $31.99 for ages 3-6 or under 48 inches.

DUTCH WONDERLAND

In addition to its regular rides and attractions, Dutch Wonderland is offering "Happy Hauntings" activities this month. visitors can play games, watch magic shows and take part in costume contests, pumpkin decorating and storytime with the princess of Dutch Wonderland.

IDLEWILD

Idlewild Park offers a family-oriented Halloween celebration, "Hollowboo," free of gore and big scares. Visitors can enjoy the Haunted Hollow train ride or try one of the haunted houses, as well as trick-or-treat in the Storybook Forest.

OPEN -- 12 p.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays (through Oct. 29) and Sundays (Oct. 23 and 30)

ADMISSION -- $22.95 per person; $14.95 for seniors (55-plus); 2 and under admitted free. "Hollowboo" admission is an additional $15.95.

KENNYWOOD

Kennywood features its Phantom Fright Nights on select nights in October. Enjoy haunted mazes and other Halloween features.
