SCOTTISH FESTIVAL AND HIGHLAND GAMES

The lowdown -- You don't need a kilt to take part in Saturday's Anne Arundel Scottish Festival and Highland Games. Enjoy music by the Highland-Aires, fiddler Bonnie Rideout, the Homespun Ceilidh Band and Carl Peterson. See competitions in highland dancing, fiddling and piping.

OKTOBERFEST

The lowdown -- Listen to live music by the Heidi und Heimat Echo Band, eat German food, drink beer and take part in games at the Catholic Community of South Baltimore's Oktoberfest.

If you go -- The Oktoberfest is 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of E. West St. Free. Call 410-752-8498.

WINE FESTIVAL

The lowdown -- At Mount Vernon's Fall Wine Festival and Sunset Tour, guests can sample wines while overlooking the Potomac River and tour George Washington's Virginia mansion.
