CATHARINE HEIMILLER RYER of Pomperaug Woods, Southbury, Ct., formerly of Heritage Village, Southbury, CT. died Friday, September 30 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of Eugene H. Ryer. Mrs. Ryer was born in Baltimore, Maryland, daughter of the late George and Naomi Heimiller. Mrs. Ryer attended Western High School in Baltimore and after graduating became a legal secretary. She married Eugene H. Ryer in 1929 and they moved to Glyndon. MD in 1935 where she was active in community affairs and the All Saints Episcopal Church. Retiring in 1972, she moved with her husband to Heritage Village. She was a volunteer at the Glebe House in Woodbury and was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Woodbury. Mr. Ryer passed away in 1991 and Mrs. Ryer moved to Pomperaug Woods in 1995. She is survived by three sons, David E. Ryer of Ruxton, MD, Michael P. Ryer of Ridgefield and Stephen Ryer of Normandy, France. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 15 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 294 Main St. South Woodbury. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 294 Main St. South, Woodbury, 06798. The Southbury Funeral Home of Munson Lovetere, 235 Main St. North is in charge of arrangements.
