Lafferty, Helen Joyce Greener Zvonar

HELEN JOYCE GREENER ZVONAR LAFFERTY, 74, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2005 in Austin, Texas. She was born on July 9, 1931 in Baltimore, Maryland to George Greener and Carolyn Bothe Greener. Mrs. Lafferty lived in Baltimore for 71 years before moving to Austin. She was retired from the Baltimore City school system. Her primary school was Roland Park Junior High School where she was the head of the Art Department for 27 years. Mrs. Lafferty earned and enjoyed the respect of her peers and students alike. She was repeatedly nominated for and featured in Who's Who In America and Who's Who in American Education. Mrs. Lafferty was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was an accomplished artist, an avid reader, a supporter of charities and inspired the culinary arts in her children. Preceding Mrs. Lafferty in death was her first husband, John J. Zvonar, her second husband, Earl F. Lafferty and her youngest son, Stephen Zvonar. She is survived by her loving children, David A. Zvonar of Austin; John G. Zvonar and wife, Qingsu of Austin; and Barbara Zvonar Gunter and husband, Wayne of Glennville, Georgia; grandchildren, Alexandria D. Zvonar and Rachel Lynn Gunter; and three special grandchildren, Chasity, Tyler and Dustin Riner. Mrs. Lafferty recently welcomed her first great-grandchild, Raven Leigh Gunter. She also leaves behind and rejoins countless special friends. The family would like remembrances made in Mrs. Lafferty's honor to any of the St. Jude Charities.
