TODAY

Baltimore County Council -- The council will meet in legislative session at 4 p.m. in the council chambers, 400 Washington Ave., Towson. Among items to be voted on is a request for the Planning Department to create a master plan for Overlea/Fullerton. 410-887-3196.

TOMORROW

Anne Arundel County Council -- The council will meet in legislative session at 7 p.m. in the council chambers, the Arundel Center, Annapolis. Topics will include zoning maps for the Glen Burnie and Brooklyn Park communities, as well as a special tax district for the Annapolis Roads area. 410-222-1401.

WEDNESDAY

Crime discussion -- The Annapolis community of Eastport will hold a panel discussion on crime and the criminal justice system at 7:30 p.m. at Eastport United Methodist Church, 926 Bay Ridge Ave., Annapolis. 410-216-9449.

THURSDAY

Chocolate Festival -- Lexington Market will hold its annual Chocolate Festival It will continue from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. FRIDAY

Sailboat show -- The 36th annual U.S. Sailboat Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at City Dock in Annapolis. It will continue from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 10. Admission is $16, and $8 for children age 12 and younger. 410-280-0445, ext. 19.

SATURDAY

Oktoberfest at armory -- The 36th annual Maryland Oktoberfest will take place from noon to 11 p.m. at the 5th Regiment Armory, Howard and 29th Division streets. FestiFall -- The eighth annual FestiFall celebration will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cylburn Arboretum, 4915 Greenspring Ave. Activities will include hayrides and scarecrow making. Admission is free but parking costs $4. 410-396-0180.

SUNDAY

Columbus Day parade -- Baltimore's annual Columbus Day parade will step off at 2 p.m. from Mount Vernon Place and proceed south on Charles Street, east on Pratt Street and south on President Street to the Columbus Monument. columbuscelebrations.com.

Senior Pageant -- The third annual Senior Pageant sponsored by the Baltimore Department of Recreation and Parks will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Shiloh Christian Community Center, 825 Yale Ave. The pageant showcases the talent and experiences of women age 50 and older.
