BGE finds cause of power outages

Maryland

October 03, 2005

A defective electrical circuit was responsible for sporadic power outages affecting about 650 customers in the Mount Washington neighborhood over the past few days, Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. said yesterday.

Robert L. Gould, a BGE spokesman, said that an electrical circuit that caused the outages was bypassed and that service to the affected area was restored yesterday evening.

He said that the outages occurred late last week and over the weekend and that workers repeatedly replaced a part in the circuit serving the neighborhood, only to have it malfunction again.

"The circuit kept tripping until we found the defective part and bypassed that particular circuit," Gould said.
