Hepner, Laura Martha

LAURA MARTHA HEPNER died September 28, 2005 at Stella Maris Hospice. She was diagnosed with leukemia in August 2005 at age 91. Born in Empire, Louisiana on April 10, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophia (Kopec) Slowik. Laura and her family settled in the Fells Point area of Baltimore. She married her beloved Joseph Hepner in 1931. Joseph died in 1987. Laura was employed at Western Electric for 35 years. She was independent doing her own shopping and still driving her car through July 2005. Laura did the most beautiful needlepoint and knitted at least 20 afghans for her family. A loving mother she is survived by two sons and one daughter, Joseph Hepner and his wife Lorraine, Daniel Hepner and his wife Margaret and Adriana Roberts and her fiance, John Walsh. Laura was a loving sister-in-law of Frank Hepner and Henry Hepner and dear friend to Ernie Roberts. She was pre-deceased by three sister and one brother, Mary Boemmel, Stella Murawski, Helen Augustyniak and Louis Slowik. She was mother-in-law of the late Shirley Hepner. Lovingly known as Mom, Grandmom, Gram and G.G. she is survived by 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She leaves many devoted nieces, nephews and friends, with happy memories of her presence. Christian Wake Service will be held at the family owned Duda-Ruck Funeral Home of Dundalk, Inc., 7922 Wise Ave. Sunday 7:30 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church Monday 10 A.M. Interment Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M.
