Biking

Sunday -- Take a 50- to 60-mile ride through Oregon Ridge, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Lots of hills and a 15- to 18-mph pace. One stop at the turnaround point for rehydration. Call REI Timonium for details: 410-252-5920.

Birding

Tomorrow -- Take an "Owl Prowl" hike with the staff of Soldiers Delight Natural Environment Area, Deer Park Road. Meet at Visitors Center, 8 p.m. Cost: $5 per person. Call 410-922-3044 to register.

Hiking

Oct. 9 -- Help repair and upgrade trails at Patapsco Valley State Park. Contact Larry Martin, volunteer coordinator, at 410-465-3287 or at lmartin@dnr.state.md.us at least two days in advance to receive starting time and directions to the trailhead.

Hunting

Saturday, Oct. 9 and Oct. 16 -- Hunter sight-in, Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore range, Marriottsville and Wards Chapel roads, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All firearms. Cost: $5 per firearm plus $1 donation to Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry. Details: 410-461-8532.
