The Ravens added a kicker to their roster today, signing Aaron Elling, a three-year NFL veteran out of Wyoming.

Elling is expected to handle kickoff duties, a job that was handled by placekicker Matt Stover in the firts two games of the season.

To make room for Elling, the Ravens terminated the contract of linebacker Jim Nelson. Nelson, in his seventh NFL season, signed as a free agent this offseason after two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.

In other moves Wednesday, the Ravens signed linebacker Dennis Haley, a rookie out of Virginia, to the practice squad and released practice squad kicker Robbie Gould.

Jets sign Kingsbury

The New York Jets signed Kliff Kingsbury on Wednesday to be their third quarterback.

Kingsbury, taken by the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2003 draft, most recently was on the Denver Broncos' practice squad. The Jets were forced to sign another quarterback after Chad Pennington and Jay Fiedler went out for the season with shoulder injuries.

Brooks Bollinger, who was the No. 3 quarterback, will start Sunday at Baltimore. The Jets signed Vinny Testaverde on Tuesday as the backup.
