Matt Llano

Broadneck Cross country

STATS -- Llano took fourth place in the Knights' Invite at Baybrook to help the Bruins finish third in the 17-team boys division.

SIDELINES -- First in the county championships in both indoor and outdoor distance in 2005, Llano carries a 4.4 grade point average, is ranked ninth in his senior class of 544 and is president of the school's National Honor Society.

Baltimore City

Benjamin Washington

Carver Football

STATS -- Washington had his breakout game in a 44-0 rout of Reginald Lewis on Sept. 16. In that contest, Washington had four receptions for 143 yards and three touchdowns.

SIDELINES -- The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder plays wide receiver, defensive back, kick returner, punt returner and running back.

Baltimore County

Amy Happel

Lansdowne Volleyball

STATS -- A 6-foot outside hitter, the senior averages 2.3 kills per game and has served 19 aces.

SIDELINES -- The three-sport athlete, who hopes to play college softball, carries a 3.3 grade point average and ranks ninth in her class. She works with the Relay for Life to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Her sister Laura, 23, is a cancer survivor.

Carroll County

Caitlin Byrne

Winters Mill Volleyball

STATS -- A 6-foot outside hitter, Byrne had 41 kills in wins over Mercy, Century and Francis Scott Key, also adding 12 aces. The senior's efforts helped the Falcons start the season 5-0, already surpassing their win total of last season.

SIDELINES -- This is just her third year of playing volleyball after starting her high school career in field hockey.

Harford County

Liz DiNunno

Fallston Field hockey

STATS -- She has anchored a defense that allowed just one goal in two games in the tough Garrison Forest tournament.

SIDELINES -- The senior captain is a third-year varsity player and has helped the Cougars get off to a 5-2 start. DiNunno also plays lacrosse, is a member of the varsity club and serves as manager of the girls basketball team.

Howard County

Jen Feldmann

Centennial Volleyball

STATS -- The senior setter went into the week with 134 assists (8.9 per game) in the No. 1 Eagles' 4-0 start.

SIDELINES -- Feldmann, who has a 3.5 grade point average, has painted since the third grade and began playing the flute in the fourth grade. She would like to study graphic design in college.
