A woman was found dead in a bathtub last night by Baltimore County firefighters extinguishing a fire in her apartment in the Overlea area, authorities said.

The firefighters were dispatched about 8:15 p.m. to investigate a report of an odor in a Taylor Park Apartments building in the first block of Mopec Circle, near the Taylor Avenue campus of the Maryland School for the Blind, and found a fire burning in a second-floor apartment.

The unnamed woman found dead was believed to be a resident. Her body was taken to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy, according to police Capt. Ronald Schwartz, commander of the Parkville Precinct.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
