McDonogh slips past Mt. St. Joe

Senior Bryn Holmes ran for two touchdowns as No. 5 McDonogh rallied to defeat host Mount St. Joseph in Irvington, 14-10, yesterday.

Holmes scored the winning touchdown on a 4-yard run in the fourth. He scored on a 5-yard run in the second quarter to give the Eagles (2-1) a 7-3 lead at halftime.

The Gaels had taken a 3-0 lead after one quarter and took a 10-7 advantage into the fourth.

Milford Mill 18, Loch Raven 7-- Joe Embree caught touchdown passes of 63 and 75 yards as the Millers (3-0) rallied to defeat the visiting Raiders (1-2).

Milford Mill took a 6-0 lead into the fourth quarter, but fell behind, 7-6, before Embree's second scoring reception put the Millers ahead to stay.

Embree also made an impact on defense, making six tackles and deflecting five passes.

Overlea 48, Sparrows Point 15 -- Raynard Horne scored four touchdowns and Gene Knight added three for the Falcons (3-0) against the host Pointers (2-1), whose 11-game winning streak against Baltimore County opponents ended. Horne finished with six carries for 136 yards and Knight had eight carries for 101 yards.

Parkville 41, Patapsco 6 -- Russell Winborn rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns as the Knights (3-0) routed the host Patriots (0-3).

Archbishop Spalding 39, John Carroll 14 -- Casey Amsler passed for three touchdowns as the visiting Cavaliers (4-0) rolled in Bel Air against the winless Patriots.
