Job Center

Numbers--The Labor Department last week reported that Katrina cost 68,000 Americans their jobs, pushing unemployment benefit applications up sharply.

Tip of the Week: Providing realistic job previews

Advice: These previews offer a balanced picture of the job a candidate is considering for employment. Positive aspects might include training and developing opportunities, interacting with interesting and influential people and the opportunity to use acquired skills.

Providing such detailed previews may mean a candidate must return for follow-up interviews. Based on a complete job description, the job candidate will form an accurate and realistic picture of the job.
