Yankees update Tonight's game is the first of eight remaining with the New York Yankees in the final two weeks of the season, so if nothing else, the Orioles will have a say in who wins the American League East. With a loss yesterday in the series finale in Toronto, the Yankees' six-game winning streak ended. But with Boston's defeat to Oakland, New York remains 1 1/2 games out in the division, and 1 1/2 behind wild-card leader Cleveland. Alex Rodriguez, Hideki Matsui and Gary Sheffield each have more than 100 RBIs, becoming the first trio of Yankees to collect consecutive 100-RBI seasons since Hall of Famers Joe DiMaggio, Bill Dickey and Lou Gehrig did it from 1936 to 1938. Rodriguez and Jason Giambi have also become one of only three pairs of Yankees to each hit 20 or more home runs after the All-Star break in the same season. The Orioles are 6-4 this season against New York, 2-3 at Yankee Stadium.
