DOROTHY ENSOR of Rock Hall, Maryland, died Thursday, September 8, 2005, in her home in Rock Hall. She was 95. Dorothy Ensor was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on September 15, 1909, the daughter of the late John and Arabia Elmer. Mrs. Ensor was married to her first husband, George H. Roeder in 1930. She became widowed in 1963. Mrs. Ensor married her second husband, Bennett Scott Ensor in 1982 and he passed away in 2004. Mrs. Ensor was a classically trained pianist, who studied at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. She was legendary among her family and friends for her cooking and hospitality. She was a veracious reader and avid bird watcher and could still dazzle listeners with her pianistic ability well into her seventies. Until the decline of her health she was very active in the Rock Hall Senior Citizens activities. Mrs. Ensor was preceded in death by her two husbands, and her son George H. Roeder Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Roeder Cross of Chestertown, Maryland, her son Richard Roeder of Monkton, Maryland, two sisters, Jeanne Bird of Maine and Betty Lee Healy of Florida, six grandchildren, John Cross Jr., of Los Angeles, Nancy Macklin Cross of Chestertown, Maryland, Rebecca Roeder of Lansing, Michigan, George H. Roeder, III of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Ethan Roeder of New York, and Judith Marjory Roeder of Evanston, Illinois and two great grandchildren. Services will be held at a later date privately. In lieu of flowers contributions can be sent to the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Co., P.O. Box 577 Rock Hall, Maryland, 21661. Arrangements by Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Rd. Chestertown, Maryland.
