Balto. County seeks land for Warren Road

September 14, 2005

The Baltimore County Department of Public Works has asked the County Council to approve a land purchase for the planned widening of a portion of Warren Road near the Loch Raven Reservoir.

The department proposes buying a parcel near the intersection of Warren and Bosley roads for about $470,000. It would be the fourth and final purchase required to add a turning lane, a public works official told councilmen yesterday.

Four years ago, the county decided to widen a curve in the road to reduce congestion and accidents, Edward C. Adams Jr., the county's public works director, said after the meeting.

But Councilman T. Bryan McIntire, whose district includes that portion of Warren Road, indicated he might oppose the purchase. "There's nothing wrong with this project that a four-way stop sign couldn't take care of," he said.

The council is to vote Monday.
