Food journalists group honors Sun's Kasper

September 14, 2005

Sun columnist Rob Kasper won first place for his food writing in an awards competition sponsored by the Association of Food Journalists.

The prize, announced Saturday at the group's annual conference in San Francisco, was among those given in 22 categories of food reporting, writing and photography.

Kasper won in the category of best food columns at a newspaper of between 150,000 and 350,000 circulation.

In their remarks, contest judges praised Kasper's writing as skillfully blending humor and information, singling out a column in which he lunched on and mused about some soon-to-be-extinct super-size fries at McDonald's.
