THE QUESTION: What grade has the most students in the Anne Arundel County school system?

In the 2004-05 school year, the ninth graders ruled.

According to the school system's Web site, there were 6,903 students enrolled in ninth grade in county high schools, nearly 1,000 more than the second-place 10th graders, of which there were 5,960.

Seventh and eighth grades were the next highest, with 5,899 and 5,828 students, respectively.

At the low end, you had to go to youngest and oldest students: The lowest enrollment was in kindergarten, with 4,659 pupils; next lowest was 12th-grade enrollment, at 4,833.
